Launch of the Social Forum for Studies Digital Repository

 The Royal Tropical Institute (KIT)in the  Netherlands with  collaboration of Institute of Development Studies (IDS)in United Kingdom partnered with Forum for Social Studies (FSS)in Ethiopia, to establish Digital Repository at FSS.
The digital repository, to be  launched on 27th of July, 2012, is based on open access principles, contains the collections of intellectual output related to Ethiopia and Africa’s social studies and other developmental issues.
The  launching event, which will be accompanied by the advocacy workshop, will be attended by representatives from KIT, IDS and FSS partners.

Prior to the launch event,  from 34th  to 5th, May, 2012 KIT expert, Africa J Bwamkuu in collaboration with local expert, Teklemichael T. Wordofa  from Addis Ababa University, assisted with Julie Verleyen  from African Digital Library Support Network (ADLSN), conducted a capacity building workshop on Digital Library establishment and management using GreenstoneDigital Library Software.  at FSS.

15 participants from the eight  institutions (universities, research and other NGO) attended the workshop.  After the workshop, participants formed a network online group that intends to support each other when embarking into developing individual institutional repositories.
